GNOME (general) |
4.1 Unix |
http://www.gnome.org/ |
GNOME
offers an easy to understand desktop for your Unix
and Unix-like computer. The GNOME 2 was the most
used desktop interface un Unix and Linux. GNOME's
3 desktop takes elegance to a new level. We've
swept away the clutter and made a simple and
easy-to-use desktop that's the most beautiful
version ever that includes a new visual theme, a
refined new font and carefully crafted animations.
The Activities Overview is the portal to all your
computing activities. Quickly accessible using the
top-left hot corner or windows key, it provides a
single place to access windows, applications and
even messages. The dash allows you to see which
applications are currently running and the
workspace switcher can be used to group windows.
Many special functions are developed on Linux
without similar function on Unix. Actual many
GNOME users changing to the Mate Desktop. |

Lumina |
1.1 FreeBSD |
http://lumina-desktop.org/ |
The Lumina Desktop
Environment is a lightweight system interface that
is designed for use on any Unix-like operating
system. On the technical side, Lumina is
created/distributed under the 3-clause BSD
license, allowing it to be used by anyone,
anywhere (including in proprietary distributions).
It has been written from scratch in C++/Qt5
graphical toolkit and not the KDE-based variant of
Qt. It also does not use any of the (Linux-based)
desktop frameworks (ConsoleKit, PolicyKit, D-Bus,
systemd, etc..), instead using a simple built-in
interface layer for communicating directly with
the operating system. |
LXDE |
4.1 Unix |
http://lxde.org/ |
LXDE
is a free and open source desktop environment for
Unix and other POSIX compliant platforms, such as
Linux or BSD. The goal of the project is to
provide a desktop environment that is fast and
energy efficient. The name LXDE stands for
"Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment". LXDE is
designed to work well with computers on the low
end of the performance spectrum such as older
resource-constrained machines, new generation
netbooks, and other small computers, especially
those with low amounts of RAM. |
MATE |
4.1 Unix |
http://mate-desktop.org/ |
MATE
is a desktop environment forked from the
now-unmaintained code base of GNOME 2. The name
derives from a beverage called mate from
subtropical South America. The renaming is
necessary to avoid conflicts with GNOME 3
components. MATE is a fork of GNOME 2 which was
deprecated to make way for GNOME 3 development. It
continues that long tradition of providing an
intuitive and attractive desktop environment, but
brings a much needed overhaul in both back and
front-end functionality. The desktop still uses
the much loved Applications, Places and System
menus, so users familiar with that will feel right
at home! MATE is bringing the GNOME 2 desktop into
the modern era with new functions and features,
like the system control center overhaul. |

tmux |
4.1 Unix |
http://tmux.github.io/ |
tmux is a terminal multiplexer on
various windows without use of X-window. Tmux is a
software application that can be used to multiplex
several virtual consoles, allowing a user to
access multiple separate terminal sessions inside
a single terminal window or remote terminal
session. It is useful for dealing with multiple
programs from a command-line interface, and for
separating programs from the Unix shell that
started the program. tmux is distributed under a
BSD license. |
