FreeBSD is a UNIX-like operating system. It has a solid reputation for reliability (solid as a rock), with a perfect performance both in the server, and on the desktop. Berkeley Software Distribution - BSD is derived from an operating system born from the contributions made to this system by the University of California at Berkeley Unix system. In the early years of Unix system its creators, the Bell Laboratories of AT & T, authorized the University of California at Berkeley and other universities to use the source code and adapt it to your needs. During the seventies and eighties Berkeley used the system for their research in operating systems. When AT & T withdrew permission to use college for commercial reasons , the university promoted the creation of a collection inspired by the Unix system using the contributions they had made , then allowing distribution for academic purposes and after some time reducing version minimum restrictions regarding copying, distribution and modification . Some descendants of the system developed by Berkeley operating systems are: FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, SunOS (Solaris and OpenIndiana today ), Apple OS X, PC- BSD and many more.

Microsoft Windows: Windows
Standard (Home) or Windows Essentials Server are low price systems,
combined with open and free software will expand the
functionality of Windows. This will lower
operating costs, very practical for SMBs, home
office, education and personal use. With Standard or

perfecto. Linux es en el principio solo un núcleo
(ingles kernel), no un sistema operativo completo.
Los distribuidores de Linux completaran el núcleo
con otros elementos de software libre y asemblaran
un sistema completo. Cada distribución variar en la
composición del producto y como consecuencia la
software de cada distribución de Linux no son
intercambiable. Hoy en el día existen muchos
variaciones pero poco normalización entre los
sistemas. En contrario el sistema FreeBSD, el núcleo
y los programas son de una mano y todos elementos de
software son intercambiables. El usuario o el
administrador de un centro de computación necesita
hacer la decisión que es importante para su trabajo.
